Natural Resources Section

The Natural Resources Section provides legal advice to the National Marine Fisheries Service and the National Ocean Service, and seeks monetary restitution from responsible parties for injuries caused to our Nation’s natural resources by releases of hazardous substances from thousands of waste sites, numerous oil spills, and physical impacts (e.g., vessel groundings) to unique resources located in National Marine Sanctuaries.

The Section has attorneys located in NOAA headquarters and in four regional offices. The head of the office is Chauncey Kelly, Section Chief. Mr. Kelly is located in Silver Spring, Maryland. He is supported by:

Laurie Lee, Deputy Section Chief (Southwest Office)
